How do you ask siblings to step up without triggering a family war? (Vent + Need Advice)

Hey everyone, i'm here to vent and for advice.

Right now, I am carrying about 90% of the caregiving workload for my father, who lives with me under my roof. My siblings live out on their own and drop by with their families every week or two to visit. On paper, it sounds like a nice setup, but the reality behind closed doors is driving me crazy.

What hurts the most is the dynamic with my dad. Because I'm the one managing his daily routines, meds, and constant demands, our relationship is strained. I'm always the "bad guy" having to nag, correct him, or snap when things get overwhelming, which makes him angry at me. But my siblings? They come in every couple of weeks, bring a small snack or some fruit, chat with him for an hour, and my dad praises them for being so filial while he complains about how terrible I am. It makes me feel completely invisible and unappreciated for the endless grind I put in 365 days a year.

To make matters worse, when my siblings and their kids visit, it often ends up doubling my workload instead of giving me a break. I often end up rushing to prep extra food, cleaning up spilled drinks, and tidying up the house after the kids leave, while my siblings sit back and chat because that’s the ‘precious time’ they get to be with our father.

I want to sit them down and have an honest conversation about sharing the load more equitably, maybe taking over specific administrative tasks, doing weekend relief, or helping with logistics, or even buying food over for everyone when they come to visit. But I haven’t been able to bring it up. I'm terrified of starting a massive family war where I get painted as the ungrateful, nagging sibling. ESPECIALLY because I am the only one with no kids to look after.

Have any of you successfully navigated a conversation like this with your family without blowing everything up? How did you approach it?

Caring for a loved one with the family is difficult. Not everyone can pull equal weight, and it can quietly strain even the strongest marriages. This is a safe, honest space to talk about the messy side of relationships under pressure. Whether you're navigating unequal sharing of responsibilities, trying to figure out how to be a partner instead of just a caregiver, or dealing with family conflicts, you can vent, seek advice, and find solidarity here.
